To find out when a particular PROSOCO product was made, you need to look for the product’s lot number. That number is printed on the label of every PROSOCO product. It’s usually found near the barcode on the back of the product label.

The first six digits of the lot number -- here, 100759 -- is used internally by the PROSOCO manufacturing team. You can ignore that number and focus instead on the second five-digit number. The second five digits -- here, 17172 -- tell you the date the product was made. This is expressed in a Julian Date number. In this case, the first two digits -- 17-- tell you that this product was made in 2017. The last three digits --172 -- tell you that the product was made on the 172nd day of the year (or June 21, 2017).

So, in this case, this particular product has a 3-year shelf life, so it would be good for application until June 21, 2020.

Most PROSOCO products have between a 1- and 3-year shelf life, although you should always check the Product Data Sheet for your specific product.

  • Water repellents typically have a shelf life of 1 year.

  • Masonry cleaners typically have a shelf life of 3 years.

  • Concrete densifiers typically have a shelf life of 2 years.

  • Air barriers typically have a shelf life of 1 year.

Shelf life information can be found on every product’s Product Data Sheet. That information is usually found in the Typical Technical Data section.

If you ever have questions about a product’s shelf life or need help finding your product’s lot number, call PROSOCO’s Customer Care department at 800-255-4255.
